About Sofi Tukker

Based in New York, SOFI TUKKER is an American musical DJ duo made up of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern. Best known for their songs "Drinkee", "Best Friend", and "Purple Hat", the pair is one of EDM's best gems today. They also have Grammy nominations behind their backs, one for "Drinkee" and one for their "Treehouse" album. 

It all started when Halpern and Hawley-Weld first met at Brown University. Sophie was performing at an art gallery, and Tucker approached her - thus began their collabs to write and perform original music. Moving to New York, they started dreaming big. 

In July 2016, the pair released "Soft Animals", featuring their songs "Drinkee", "Matadora", "Awoo", "Déjà Vu Affair", "Moon Tattoo", and "Hey Lion". Getting a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording as "Drinkee" dominated the scene, they definitely won a crowd for their sensual vocals + cowbells, bongos, electric guitars and deep driving bass. The song was also featured in the 2017 film "The Incredible Jessica James". 

Their most recent album "butter" was released in May 2025, sharing strong influences from Brazilian genres, including  samba, MPB, bossa nova, carimbó, and more. The record also featured brazilian artists, Seu Jorge and Liniker.
