The “Lonely No More” hitmaker is kicking off an exciting new era with a new album coming your way. Just announced, he’s embarking on THE ALL NIGHT DAYS TOUR this summer — all set to perform his solo bangers, fan favorites, Matchbox Twenty picks, and new anthems on stage. Known for his electrifying live shows, his rock-out energies never fail to shine and get the crowd crazy. Celebrating his new release and 20 years of his solo debut record “Something To Be,” he’s all pumped up for these wild nights on the road.
Joining him on tour is A Great Big World — the iconic musical duo behind the global smash hit “Say Something.” Their opening set will have you emotional and crying a river before Rob Thomas rocks it out.
Born in Germany, the singer moved to the United States at the age of 6, and lived quite a challenging childhood. Listening to country music and idolizing “big stars who lived ... hard lives,” he shared with Rolling Stone in a 2005 interview that these icons inspired him to be a songwriter. Since then, his passion has been fired up, hoping to make it big in music. Fast forward today, his work with Matchbox Twenty has sold over 40 million records, plus his solo projects sold another 18+ million. As one of the industry’s biggest names in the alt-rock scene, Rob Thomas has kept the fire lit up. To his name, he’s got a bunch of solo hits — “Lonely No More,” “Her Diamonds,” and “Little Wonders”, and his voice has led Matchbox Twenty’s biggest hits as well, including “3AM,” “How Far We've Come,” “If You're Gone,” and “Unwell.”
The man’s new album takes inspiration from a phrase he’s always said back in nights when he had to stay up… it “stemmed from a conversation I was having about when we used to stay out all night and I said, "I thought my all-night days were over.",” he told USA TODAY. Finding out that it’s a pretty unique phrase through a Google search (making sure there ain’t another song with that same name), he took it by heart.
“It’s a good thing that we’re in a time where it’s OK to talk about not being OK… No matter where we are with having a mental health conversation, we feel this need to be performative in some way, to try not to burden other people with all of the things distressing you,” he shared about the LP’s first single “Hard to Be Happy.”
Taking the high road in everything that he does, this legend never fails to take people by surprise. Another new era in his book, it’s an exciting chapter as Rob Thomas celebrates milestones in his solo career & for Matchbox Twenty.
