Last year, Yeah Yeah Yeahs dropped their highly-anticipated fifth studio effort, Cool It Down. The record earned debuted at number 6 on Billboard’s Independent Albums and Top Rock Albus chart and entered Billboard 200’s top 50. Moreover, the album earned a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album, making it the fifth time the band earned a Grammy nod.
The new album, which spawned singles “Spitting Off the Edge of the World” and “Burning,” is a follow-up to the band’s highest-charting effort, Mosquito. The album peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200 charts and number 2 on the Top Alternative Albums and Rock Rock Albums. Mosquito, which frontwoman Karen O described as “extremely lo-fi,” was actually Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ last album to be released through Interscope Records. The band went independent for the next record, which also took nine years to release.
