Lamb of God is one of the most prolific bands to emerge from the new wave of the American heavy metal era. The Grammy-nominated band has released ten highly-acclaimed studio albums. The band, formed in 1994, was formerly named Burn the Priest and released two studio albums in 1999 and 2018. In 2000, the band emerged with the name Lamb of God and dropped their sophomore album, New American Gospel, which received favorable reviews from fans and critics. Kerrang! described Lamb of God as the most brutally aggressive band since Pantera. Three years after the release of their second studio album, Lamb of God dropped the follow-up As the Palaces Burn, entering the Billboard 200 at number 64. The album also charted at number 25 on the Top Tastemaker Albums.

In 2004, Lamb of God came out with their landmark studio album, Ashes of the Wake. The record soared to number 27 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at number 11 on the UK Top Rock and Metal Albums chart. After selling over 500,000 units in the U.S., Ashes of the Wake earned a gold certification from RIAA. Lamb of God released their most successful album, Wrath, in 2009. The fifth studio effort peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Tastemakers charts. Apart from the U.S., Wrath also entered the charts in 16 other countries, including Australia, the U.K., and Japan.
