Embarking on their first North American tour in seven years, British virtual band Gorillaz are back, and they're heading to Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island on Saturday 8th July 2017 in support of their new album, Humanz! Choc-full of high profile collaborations, the album will see some very special guests performing with the band on tour, as well as Jamie Hewlett's visual incredible trickery, creating a show like nothing you've ever seen before!
British singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and Blur frontman Damon Albarn and Tank Girl comic book artist, designer, and director Jamie Hewlett formed Gorillaz when they were room-mates in London in 1998. A virtual band consisting of four members – 2-D (lead vocals, keyboards), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar and vocals), Noodle (guitar, keyboards, and vocals) and Russel Hobbs (drums and percussion) – Gorillaz 2001 self-titled debut album sold over seven million copies and earned them an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records as the Most Successful Virtual Band. The success of Gorillaz was mirrored in their second release, 2005's Demon Days, which was certified five times platinum in the UK and double platinum in the US. Gorillas has won a Grammy Award, two MTV Video Music Awards, an NME Award, three MTV Europe Music Awards, and have been nominated for nine Brit Awards, as well as the Mercury Prize, although the nomination was later withdrawn at the band's request.
